What is individual therapy for relationship issues?

Individual therapy can help clients who are stuck in the same unhealthy relationship patterns. Maybe its the pattern of holding anger and resentment in until lashing out at a partner or even kids over a smallish thing feels like the only reasonable release. Or are you finding yourself questioning your life and longing to run away from it all only to shame yourself for even having such a thought because you should be grateful? Do you wish you could hold a “hell yes or hell no” boundary but you don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings? The expectations on us as spouses, parents, employees, adult children, friends, siblings, and socially conscious citizens are making us all anxious. In individual therapy, we examine the patterns that emerge when your life feels overwhelming and your brain does that tricky thing where it gets triggered from past situations. We will dig into those negative thought patterns and challenge their validity. We will explore how your family, culture, identity, and other factors influence how you show up to life. We will tap into your inner strength while also learning new strategies to navigate the inherent complexity, messiness, and joy of life.  You will get a handle on your emotional reactivity and be able to pull your shit together when life feels like it’s swallowing you whole. Through our work together we will uncover your truest self - the one that has the confidence to show up genuinely and vulnerably, tackle life’s challenges, and advocate for your needs.
